Tattoo FAQs

I'm not sure what tattoo I want? Can you help?

Of course - that’s exactly what we’re here for.

You’re welcome to choose from our hand-drawn flash designs, or if you have something in mind but need guidance, we can help you shape the idea into something beautifully considered.

You can get in touch ahead of your appointment, or simply pop in and speak with our team. Our stylists and tattoo artist will guide you on design, scale and placement to ensure your tattoo feels personal, balanced and true to you.

Can I choose any design or is there a set of options to pick from?

You can do either.

We offer a curated collection of hand-drawn flash designs, or you can choose to create a custom tattoo with our artist, tailored entirely to you.

If you’re still deciding, we’re here to help shape your ideas into something beautifully considered. Simply get in touch at tattoo@laurabond.com, and we’ll guide you through the options.

Can I see examples of the artist’s work?

Of course. You can explore Amber’s work in our gallery underneath our FAQs, where you’ll find a selection of her fine line tattoos and signature style.

You can also visit our Instagram for more recent work, inspiration and a closer look at what we create every day.

What tattoo placements do you offer?

We offer tattoos across most areas of the body, with a focus on placements that complement our fine line, delicate style.

We don’t offer tattoos on the hands, face, neck or genitalia.

If you’re unsure about placement, our team will guide you during your appointment to ensure your tattoo feels beautifully considered and perfectly placed.

How many tattoos can I have done?

This depends on the size and detail of your chosen designs.

If it’s your first tattoo, we usually recommend starting with one or two pieces, allowing you to ease into the experience.

If you have a few designs in mind, feel free to get in touch, we’ll guide you on what’s possible within your appointment and ensure everything feels considered, not rushed.

How much does a tattoo cost?

Our flash tattoos are priced from £120 to £250, depending on the size and intricacy of the design.

Full details are available in our flash book.

For custom designs, pricing is tailored to your idea. Your artist will confirm the cost with you after reviewing your booking form, before your appointment is secured.

All tattoos require a 50% deposit to secure your booking.

How long does a tattoo take?

Timing varies depending on the size and intricacy of your chosen design.

Our simpler flash tattoos typically take around 40 minutes, while more detailed designs can take up to an hour.

For custom tattoos, timing will be discussed and confirmed during the booking process, once your design has been finalised.

Do you take walk-ins?

We do accept walk-ins, depending on availability on the day.

If you’re looking for a custom tattoo, we recommend getting in touch in advance so we can plan your design and book a dedicated appointment with our artist.

What’s the consultation process? I’d like to chat my ideas through with her ahead of time.

For flash tattoos, we ask that you arrive around 20 minutes before your appointment. This gives you time to sit down with your artist and our team to finalise your design, placement and size before we begin.

For custom tattoos, the process is more considered. We’ll guide you through a more in-depth consultation via email, or you’re welcome to visit us in the boutique Sunday to Wednesday to speak with our resident artist in person.

What is the minimum age for tattoos?

You must be 18 or over to be tattooed.

A valid physical photo ID is required for every appointment (passport or driving licence). We’re unable to accept photos or digital copies of ID.

Without this, we won’t be able to go ahead with your tattoo.

Can I get a tattoo if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

Unfortunately, we’re unable to tattoo during pregnancy or while you’re breastfeeding.

Once you’ve finished breastfeeding, you’re very welcome to book in - we’ll be here when the time feels right for you.

Can I bring friends or family to my tattoo appointment?

You’re very welcome to bring someone with you, however during busier times, guests may be asked to wait outside the boutique or in the nearby coffee shop. This helps us keep our space calm and comfortable for all clients.

Our boutique isn’t suitable for children under 10, so we kindly ask that they are left with someone you trust. If you arrive with children, we won’t be able to proceed with your appointment.

In line with health and safety regulations, we’re also unable to allow dogs or other animals on the studio floor.

What happens if I am late or miss my tattoo appointment?

If you’re running late, please let us know as soon as possible at help@laurabond.com. We’ll always do our best to accommodate you, however this isn’t always possible.

If you’re unable to attend your appointment, or arrive too late for us to proceed, your deposit will be lost and a new booking will be required.

As a reminder, we require 48 hours’ notice to reschedule or cancel your appointment.

Can I cancel or reschedule my tattoo appointment?

By booking an appointment, you confirm that you understand and agree to these terms.

Does the artist draw the design on me first so I can see what it looks like?

Yes - absolutely.

Once you’ve chosen your design (whether flash or custom), your artist will apply a stencil to your skin so you can see exactly how it will look.

We’ll take the time to refine the placement, size and overall feel with you, making any adjustments needed before we begin. Nothing starts until you feel completely comfortable and confident with your design.

Can I get one of your tattoos as a coverup or rework of my old tattoo?

Unfortunately we're unable to cover or rework any old tattoos, if you have any questions please get in touch with us at tattoo@laurabond.com

How do I look after my tattoo?

Looking after your tattoo properly is essential to ensure it heals beautifully.

Straight after your appointment, leave your wrap on for 2–4 hours, or if you’ve been fitted with a second skin, keep this in place for 24–72 hours.

Once removed, wash your hands, then gently cleanse the area using lukewarm water and a fragrance-free wash. Pat dry softly using a clean towel - avoid rubbing.

Apply a very thin layer of tattoo balm, and continue to moisturise lightly 2–3 times a day for the first 2–4 weeks.

To protect your tattoo while it heals:

  • Avoid intense exercise for the first 72 hours
  • No baths or soaking for 2 weeks
  • Avoid sun exposure, swimming, exfoliating and tight clothing for 4 weeks

Taking care during the healing process will help your tattoo settle softly into the skin and maintain its delicate detail.

What is the healing process like?

Week 1

You may experience tenderness, redness and slight swelling. The area can feel a little raised, and some people notice light bruising.

Week 2

Your tattoo will begin to flake and lightly scab, and it may feel itchy. It’s important not to pick or scratch - this is essential for proper healing. Keeping the area lightly moisturised will help soothe any irritation.

Week 3

Some flaking may continue, along with occasional itchiness. The tattoo can appear slightly shiny or dull at this stage - this is completely normal and part of the healing process.

Week 4

The skin will begin to return to normal, and your tattoo will start to fully settle.

Proper aftercare is key to maintaining both the appearance and longevity of your tattoo. In some cases, you may notice slight ink fade during healing -each tattoo includes one complimentary touch-up if needed.

What if my tattoo needs a touch up?

During the healing process, it’s completely normal for some tattoos to experience slight ink fade or drop out.

We offer one complimentary touch-up per tattoo to ensure your piece heals beautifully and looks exactly as it should.

Simply email us at tattoo@laurabond.com and our team will arrange this for you.
